Query fan-out

Query fan-out is a way to handle a complicated question. Instead of running a single search, the system sends several related searches at once, each covering a different angle, source or subtopic. It then combines the results into one response. Google describes this approach in its AI Mode materials, where the stated goal is broader and deeper coverage than a single search gives.
Fan-out helps with comparisons, background research and questions with several parts. It also creates more places for error, because each branch can pull in a weak source. When a tool uses fan-out, check which subtopics it covered and whether the sources for each one are current. A short, direct question may not need it at all.
